How to Maintain & Hot Rod Your Airbrush ***

KISS - Keep It Sanitary, Silly! Most malfunctions are caused by a dirty airbrush. With airbrushes, cleanliness is next to godliness. This is RULE 1 for a reason! You can purchase small brushes that are used to clean between the teeth at most drugstores. These little brushes are great for cleaning the various passageways in your airbrush and they’re cheap! You can also use Q-Tips for cleaning. They work very well when moistened with "GOOF OFF." Goof Off is a paint remover that really dissolves dried pait quickly and easily. It's handy to have around the house as it will remove a lot of different stuff. Click here to visit the "Goof Off" site. (Opens a new window) WARNING! This is for METAL airbrushes only! If you have one of those plastic fantastic spritzers, be careful as this stuff could reduce it to an abstract blob!

Learn how to take your airbrush apart…and get it back together again. Airbrushes are easy to take apart but can be tricky to get back together, especially the trigger assembly. Your local airbrush or art store should be able to show you how. If you’re not mechanical, don’t buy a used airbrush on eBay! I guarantee you’ll need to clean it and replace the tip and needle if not more. More than half of the airbrushes we’ve gotten on eBay weren’t operable.

If you use water based paints use distilled water or purified water from one of those machines at the local supermarket. You won't get any mineral deposits in your airbrush & the colors of whatever medium you use won't be affected by chlorine, minerals or anything else your tap water may contain.
