Thayer & Chandler Foot Powered Air Pump

This is a foot powered air brush pump made by Thayer & Chandler. Your shoe fits over the two metal platforms and you then move your foot back and forth to operate it. The movement is unique as most foot powered air pumps were attached to a treadle type pedal.

Above is a very similar unit by the English Aerograph Company. It makes one wonder about the relationship between Aerograph and Thayer & Chandler. I think the information exchange, especially in the 1890's, flowed from Thayer & Chandler and their genius foreman, O.C. Wold to Burdick. The illustration is from a 1920 ad.
